If you are prepared to do without modern conveniences while on holiday, more than 900 nature camps welcome you all over Denmark. Accommodation is either free or costs a mere DKK 20. Please note: The nature camps do not allow cars, caravans, mobile homes, motor cycles or mopeds. Toilet and running water is available. You are not allowed to stay for more than two nights at each nature camp. At one third of the camps, a shelter is available which makes it possible to camp in the open, yet be sheltered from weather and wind.

Friluftsrådet publishes a guide entitled "Overnatning i det fri" which lists the various camps. The guide costs DKK 119 incl. updating booklet and is obtainable from most book sellers, tourist offices and from Dansk Cyklist Forbund (Danish Cyclists Federation). The nature camps have their own homepage www.teltpladser.dk which offers information on for instance the latest established nature camps.
