Music festivals in Denmark
Summer is festival season in Denmark. There are music events to cater for every taste. Whether you are young, elderly, travelling with a family, and no matter your music preferences, one thing is for sure; there will be a relaxed atmosphere and plenty opportunity to experience the special Danish “cosiness”. It is easy to become almost addicted to the special festival life and many return year after year, while others take a more casual approach and simply turn up if there happens to be a festival in the area - Which is very likely as almost 150 music festivals are organized every year in Denmark.
The flagship for the Danish festivals is the Roskilde Festival which with more than 100,000 visitors and volunteers is unconditionally Denmark’s biggest and most famous festival. If that is a bit overwhelming or rhythmic music is not your cup of tea, there are fortunately a host of other alternatives. There are one-day festivals, and festivals, e.g. Copenhagen Jazz festival, which run for one and a half weeks. Here it is possible to meet the biggest international names in rock, jazz or folk and to discover and explore new, still unknown, bands and artists.
